Making It Up as They Go Along

The suspensions of 5 Ohio State players has a lot of wrongs. Ignoring the good for I but not for thee hypocrisy of selling jerseys it was wrong/stupid of the players to sell their stuff. It was wrong of tOSU to throw their compliance department under the bus. It was wrong of Kirk Herbstreit to use his national perch to settle a grudge he has against a 21 year old kid. It continues to be wrong of ESPN to spout falsehoods that the NCAA (they make $12,000 off the Sugar Bowl) or universities profits from bowl games (nearly all schools lose money for bowl games). The only ones who profits from bowl games are ESPN, the bowls themselves, and possibly political candidates that get donations from the bowls (cough John Mccain cough cough).

But what takes the cake in this is the NCAA make it up as they go along rulings. AJ Green was suspended immediately for 4 games for selling stuff. Buckeyes get to wait a year and suspended 5 games? Why? Why not? Why is Cam Newton walking around scott free thanks to claims of ignorance but claims of ignorance in this case resulted in simply delaying the punishment? Not to say any of the punishments were right or wrong but can anyone see a shred of consistency here? Can any interpretation of the NCAA's actions be anything but they're making it up as they go along trying to weigh pressures of key stakeholders? I certainly don't....

NBA: Still Not Credible

Like MJ part my utter disdain for the NBA is its lack of credibility. The referee scandal was the sledgehammer that broke the camel's back. David Stern, as always, rather than fix the problem has reached into the old PR playbook and announced that a retired military general would be "watching" the referees. He's from the military, so you know it solves that problem, right?

Well it turns out that retired general Ronald Johnson was "commanding general of the Army Corps of Engineers, Gulf Region division, from 2003-04, responsible for overseeing $18 billion of reconstruction in Iraq." Now it happens that during that time this general lost track of $ 9 billion of that. Now I'm not an HR specialist but someone will need to let me know how losing track of half your assets and horribly bungling a job qualifies you to oversee anything ever again, let alone an already corrupted process. Well done David. Once again you've driven home the point of why I hate your league.

Mighty Drank the Rageahol and Foul Language Resulted

As a general rule I try not to talk much about the playoffs to avoid jinxing anything but I' m going to talk about this one. Fuck TBS.Fuck them for calling a 96 win team an underdog. Fuck them for ignoring that the Tribe had two Cy Young candidates or two outstanding young fireballers in the bullpen until they the last moments of Game 4. Fuck them for forcing me to watch Dane Cook, a guy that couldn't find funny if it crawled up his ass and died. Fuck them for putting out Tubby Mcdumbshit and some assholeChip Carey who thinks hyperbole doesn't go far enough. Here's a hint, let me watch the game and shut the hell up! That crew at their best could spin out conventional wisdom and at their worse made me pray for Bill Walton to take over. I'd even take Lee Corso dressed up as Chief Wahoo over them (what is Boston's mascot anyway? angry white males?). Fuck Craig Sager whose odd fashion fetish makes me think he should be kept away from small children and pregnant women.

So I hope the Tribe, Cleveland and their plagues of blood, frogs, locusts and slaying of the first of the born take their annoyance out on the Bloody Sox. Fuck Boston and their fans. They sit around whining about the injustices of their sport fate. That somehow their wait for a championship was far worse than any other which they could only do by dramatic feats of rationalization in that they overlooked that the Celts pulled them in by the bushload. Fuck their whiny ass focus on 1986 and that somehow that loss was worse than any other. Up theirs for when their team actually wins and they strut about with their penis pumps decreeing how their teams are somehow superior to any other. I've seen NRA members who compensate for their small penis' better. Fuck their insecurity in New York's shadow. Fuck their players. Fuck their racist sportswriters . Fuck their fans. Bring on fucking Boston. Go Tribe.
