Well, I got eliminated from both leagues as anticipated. I won my game, but I needed someone else to lose. The problem was, he was playing against a team that hadn’t changed his lineup in about 7 weeks. I needed Jeff Garcia to play the game of his life. The bigger problem was, Garcia wasn't even starting! Garcia did make it into the game, and then abruptly got injured (just like every other starter on the Browns this year). And thus, no playoffs at all for me.
Anyways, on to the games.
Manwich Matchup of the Week-
Jacksonville @ Green Bay-
I used to love this matchup back in the late ‘90s. I think I predicted this as the Super Bowl a couple of times. The Jags still have Jimmy Smith & Fred Taylor. The Packers still have Favre. Both teams are fighting for the playoffs, but I gotta go with Jacksonville, as their surprising march to the playoffs continues.
Pick: Jacksonville
Upset of the Week-
St. Louis @ Arizona-
Is this still considered an upset? I think so. Now that the Cardinals are responsible for BOTH 49er wins, if they have any kind of self-respect they will play hard and beat the Rams.
Pick: Arizona
Pittsburgh @ NY Giants-
Is Eli still in there? So being in the pressure cooker of New York is better than being in San Diego?
Pick: Pittsburgh
Washington @ SF-
San Fran could have completed the 2nd winless season of all time, but the Cardinals had to dramatically give them TWO victories. Just so we are all aware, the first time, the Cards had a huge lead, only to blow it and lose in OT. In the 2nd game, the Cards mysteriously spotted the 49ers 28 points, then they forced OT, only to lose in OT. This week, the 49ers aren’t playing the Cards, so it makes things easy.
Pick: Washington
Carolina @ Atlanta-
The Browns just reached the same injury level as the Panthers. Yet the Panthers have won FIVE straight games! It’s amazing! The coaches, the GM, the waterboy, and the masseuse should all be congratulated.
Pick: Carolina
Buffalo @ Cincinnati-
Who says: “Nobody circles the wagons like the Buffalo Bills” ?
Pick: Buffalo
Dallas @ Philly-
Chris Berman. That’s the answer. Anyway, even Parcells can’t figure out his team. After a dramatic comeback against the Seahawks, they lay a big turkey down against the Saints. Unbelievable.
Pick: Philly
Denver @ KC-
Fantasy Note: I banked on Tatum Bell being the Bronco starter back in week 3, when Quentin Griffin started to struggle. I was wrong though, as the backup fullback, Droughns (DROO-GANS), went on to have some great games. Mysteriously, Tatum Bell averaged 7 yards a carry, 123 yards, and 2 touchdowns in just 3 quarters of work. Then he got injured again. Tatum Bell is an enigma wrapped in a medical report.
Pick: Denver
Houston @ Chicago-
I think everyone knows who I pick here.
Pick: Houston
Minnesota @ Detroit-
How can the Vikings just give up every year? It’s uncanny. It doesn’t seem possible. I can’t figure out if it’s the coach, the players, the fans, or the players’ wives. I think they should grow playoff beards starting in week 8 and no one can shave the rest of the season. That’s the only solution I see.
Pick: Minnesota
San Diego @ Cleveland-
It’s so sad I have nothing left to say. The most exciting thing is next season, we get Winslow back, the rookie safety who got injured before the season began, a scouting department, a GM, a new coach, Andre Davis, & Andra Davis. It’s going to be a very good holiday season.
Pick: San Diego
Seattle @ NY Jets-
I can’t figure out either team. When in doubt, go w/ the AFC.
Pick: Jets
New Orleans @ Tampa Bay-
Speaking of teams that make no sense, here are 2 charter members. Always go w/ Griese right? In addition, Galloway snapped what seemed like a season-long touchdown drought.
Pick: Tampa Bay
Tennessee @ Oakland-
2 years ago, this was the AFC Championship game. Wow.
Pick: Tennesee
Baltimore @ Indy-
This is a good matchup, and if Indy can score enough, it will help put a serious nail in the coffin against the Ravens. We can only hope.
Pick: Indy
New England @ Miami-
It’s games like this that makes ABC glad that they will have alternate options to show on Mondays in the future.
Pick: New England
Last Week: 12-4 (seriously!)
Season: 121-89
Manwich Matchup: 6-8 (Damn Vikings blew another one.)
Upset Special: 6-8 (I guess picking against the Steelers each week isn't smart)

Always bet on Ben. Always. I think John Fox's job this year might be even better than last year. San Diego is on the rise, plus they have 2 first round picks for next year. The question on everybody's mind already is what to do with Brees. More later...
