Pre-Super Bowl thoughts

Let me just say that as happy as I am that Favre and Vikings lost, I am saddened by the fact that today begins the eight month media vomiting of "Will Favre play next year?" Let's all take a moment to shudder at how many useless hours of video and audio will be wasted on this douchebaggery.

Personally, I think this will be a very good superbowl. I think both teams are led by top QBs, both are very talented teams, but more importantly, I think both teams are disciplined. I am very much looking forward to it. More importantly, I'm going to be in New Orleans this weekend for my brother's bachelor party; it's going to be very excited this weekend in the Big Easy.

I do have an open question for the public (i.e. the 7 of us). What are the thoughts on the pro bowl being this weekend, and being before the super bowl. I feel like this game is a huge waste of time. What is the point? Will anyone watch?

"Let's all take a moment to shudder at how many useless hours of video and audio will be wasted on this douchebaggery." - Well said, sir!

Pro Bowl: I don't give a damn about it. I understand why the league moved it up - hell, nobody was watching it when it was after the Super Bowl, so I suppose it's worth a shot. But I still don't give a damn.

Fact is, only the MLB All-Star Game is worth watching. The NBA version is a ridiculous offense-fest, and the Pro Bowl is just pointless. (I'm too new of a hockey fan to comment on the NHL Game.)

1) The NFL Pro Bowl is idiotic and a waste of time. Although it makes sense, on some level, to move the game up to the dead week between the conference championships and the Super Bowl, it also means that guys like Peyton Manning and Drew Brees won't be playing in their sport's All-Star Game. It's kind of idiotic to have an All-Star Game where the theoretically best players from the two best teams aren't showing up because they have to prepare for the more meaningful game the following week.

2) Actually, I'm really looking forward to the Favre charade this year. Since we all know that Favre will take the full eight months betweeen last night and the start of the season to make up his mind, it's nice that he gets to infect and alienate an entirely new fanbase with his behavior. I was specifically rooting for the Vikings to lose yesterday so that Vikings fans could get a taste of how annoying it is to be a Favre fan in this day and age.

Does anyone care about the Pro Bowl? Was it ever a big deal? I was trying to think of a way to make it relevant or enjoyable but I just don't think it is possible.

1) I'd rather deal with the endless "Will Favre play next year?" as opposed to "Favre returns to Super Bowl!"
2) I think Hitman said it best, so I will just quote him, since I have the same belief: "Pro Bowl: I don't give a damn about it. I understand why the league moved it up - hell, nobody was watching it when it was after the Super Bowl, so I suppose it's worth a shot. But I still don't give a damn.
3) The public is actually larger than the 7 of us. If you click on the "sitemeter" on the right you will discover that we get 60-120 hits per day. A large portion of those hits are people looking for pictures, but some are actually stumbling into the blog.

I know there are more than 7 of us, was just joking. But seriously, how many of the 60-120 just come here to see the pictures of mighty's lady friends? I know theres days where thats the only reason i come here. And seth is convinced this blog isnt actually about sports, just hot chicks.

Oh well, on the soon-to-be-starting endless Brett Favre saga, I think we need to come up with an expression that adequately defines this situation. A phrase that describes when there is going to be an inevitably awful situation in the future that you dont want to hear one iota about, but you are convinced that a significant portion of society will care, and therefore you are sure you are going to hear about it. It's kind of like a new season of American Idol. I am going to deem this phenomenon "getting Favre-holed"!!!!! Anybody with me????

Well, it took less than 24 hours...

Yep, we're getting Favre-holed in 2010, no doubt about it!
