It's election week! In celebration of politics and Obama's victory, I will do my best for some political references...
Manwich Matchup of the Week
Giants @ Eagles- Both of these teams have won 3 straight, and every NFC East matchup seems vitally important, just like every Ohio election.
Pick: Eagles
Upset of the Week
Jack-o @ Detroit- Jacksonville's trying to spread the message that every team deserves the opportunity to win one game. Every team.
Pick: Detroit
Tenny @ Chicago- If an African-American can win the presidency, the Bears can beat the Titans. Of course, having Rex Grossman at QB is kind of like having Stockdale as your VP running mate... just ask Ross Perot, it's political suicide.
Pick: Tenny
Denver @ Cleveland- Here comes newcomer Brady Quinn! Can the Browns change? Yes.. we can! It just may take a year to see the affects though.
Pick: Denver
Cincy @ Houston- Sometimes, you gain momentum and think things are going well, when in reality, all you really did was win one game in one state.
Pick: Houston
Buff @ New England- You know who's not welcome in New England? Republicans. There no longer are any Republicans representing anyone in Congress from New England!
Pick: Buffalo
New Orleans @ Atlanta - Apparently, Dukakis was using Neil Diamond's song, "America" as the theme song during his campaign.
Pick: New Orleans
St. Louis @ Jets- Voting for the Jets and Favre feels like when you keep voting for your 80-year old Congressman just because you recognize the name. St. Louis?!? When did they get a team? The Cardinals just left.
Pick: Jets
Seattle @ Miami- The "Wildcat" offense is such a hot formation that everyone is copying it and the journalists now call any strange formation a "wildcat offense." It's like when a politician comes up with a "crazy plan" (i.e. a timetable to withdraw troops) and everyone makes fun of them, only to have everyone agree that that's what should be done.
Pick: Miami
Green Bay @ Minny- Time for Minnesota to get payback for that opening loss!
Pick: Minny
CAR @ Oak -The Panthers are 6-2! Now they are going to win at Oakland! They're going to go back to Carolina and then to Atlanta and then to Green Bay and then back to Carolina! And they're going to New York! And then to New Orleans! And they're going to take back the NFC South Division title, Yeeeeeaaaaaargh!
Pick: CAR
KC @ SD - I feel like San Diego is that candidate that keeps getting caught with its pants down. Literally.
Pick: SD
Indy @ Pitt- I suppose Pitt is for real and Indy was just beating up on an old Patriots team last weekend.
Pick: Pitt
Baltimore @ Houston-"Maybe Bob Dole should run. Bob Dole thinks Bob Dole should. Actually, Bob Dole just wants to hear Bob Dole talk about Bob Dole. BOB DOLE!"
Pick: Houston
San Fran @ Arizona - Kurt Warner is probably the John McCain of the NFL - both must be the most senior in their field and both are trying to win the whole damn thing this year.
Pick: Arizona
Last Week: 9-5 (best in at least 6 weeks)
Season: 73-57
Manwich: 5-4 (The Steelers won to ensure that the Democrats would win the Presidency)
Upset of the Week: 1-8 (I picked the Raiders... and they got shutout!)
