Everyone's a Winner

The Spurs won so they're winners. The Pistons lost but they're still winners. They were down 0-2 and 2-3 and won a crucial Game 6 on the road to force the showdown last night. That earned a lot of respect in my eyes. Despite Larry Brown being a cheap whore, he's the best basketball coach alive and one of the best who ever lived. All he does is win no matter where he goes. So, if Larry wakes up this morning and decides that he's moving on, the next team he goes to will be a winner too (as long as its as a coach and not as a decision-maker).

Congrats to the Spurs, the Pistons and Larry's next team.

Cavs need to figure out the President/situation quickly. They won't be able to sign a real GM as long as the threat of living under Brown's rule is a possibility.

I'm curious how many teams will be missing coaches/GMs when the draft rolls around.

I'm just infuriated over this. Gilbert mine as well just admit that he's the President. We don't need a President. If there's a president, suddenly every decision goes through Gilbert, El Presidente, the GM, and maybe they talk to Coach Brown. I have this feeling that Gilbert will never take himself out of the decision process.
If I were in charge, I'd hire an experienced GM, force him to have a scouting department, and let the GM and the coach figure everything out.

Gutsy, I'm afraid you're too smart to work for a guy like Dan Gilbert or Mark Cuban. These guys have learned at the feet of Steinbrenner and Charlie Finley. They think that because it's their money, they should have say in every single decision that goes on. The reason they're like that is because they're entrepreneurs and not just businessmen. If they were just businessmen who made a lot of money in a corporation, they'd know the basics of organizational theory and chain-of-command management. It's B-School 101 stuff. These guys are just hyper-intelligent people that made their own way and their own money and think that if their smarts could make them billionaires then they are smart enough to make basketball decisions. As long as Cuban's in the way, the Mavs aren't winning anything. Similarly, as long as Gilbert sticks his nose in, the Cavs will squander the best years of LBJ's career. If only these guys would use that brainpower of theirs to see that maybe sitting back and being a passive owner might be better in the long run...
