Anyone else think that cutting the Shea Stadium outfield grass to look like the NYC skyline looks horrible?
(Mikey, help me out - how do I add a picture to this post?)

Hart,
When you edit/create your there's a little button 2nd to right that gives information on how to upload an image. As a Mac user you can either use Flickr or just type in the html code.
I think it would be much better if instead of the New York skyline they had the picture of the 1986 Mets outfielders on the grass. Oh Vice Coleman, why did you love fireworks so much?
Thanks for the tip, Mikey - but you lose points for the erroneous Vince Coleman reference. Coleman started his career in 1985 with St. Louis and didn't join the Mets until 1991. The starting outfielders for the 1986 Mets were Lenny "Nails" Dykstra, Darryl Strawberry, and the immortal Mookie Wilson.
Actually, dear brothers, you're both wrong. Darryl Strawberry was the starting right fielder for the Mets but the rest of the outfield was one giant platoon. The aforementioned Lenny and Mookie platooned in center and Kevin Mitchell (yes, the big slugging 1989 NL MVP), Danny Heep, George Foster platooned in left with an occasional appearance by Mookie when he wasn't in center.
I'd agree with Mikey that a grass cutout of the '86 Mets would be a lovely sight. It would go something like this:
Back Row (L to R): Dwight Gooden, Bob Ojeda, Ron Darling, Sid Fernandez, Bruce Bereyni, Terry Leach, Doug Sisk, Roger McDowell, Jesse Orosco
Center Row (L to R): Darryl Strawberry, Kevin Mitchell, Ray Knight, Gary Carter, Ed Hearn, Keith Hernandez, Dave Magadan, Rafael Santana, Kevin Elster, George Foster, Lee Mazzilli, Davey Johnson (manager), Mel Stottlemyre (pitching coach), Bill Robinson (1st base coach), Sam Perlozzo (3rd base coach), Bud Harrelson (bench coach)
Front Row (L to R): Mookie Wilson, Len Dykstra, Tim Teufel, Wally Backman, Danny Heep, unnamed bat boys, drug dealers, pimps and bodyguards
I should also mention -- you are probably wondering why a Yankee fan would be so well-versed in the '86 Mets. The truth is, as a 10 year old boy, I didn't understand the meaning of the word "fan allegiance" and so other than Donnie Baseball (no explanation required) and Winnie (Dave Winfield) on the Yanks, Doc, Darryl, Nails, Wally, Mex and The Kid were a lot cooler than rooting for such "Yankee Greats" as Dennis Rasmussen, Bobby Meacham, Dan Pasqua, Wayne Tolleson, Henry Cotto, Claudell Washington and Joel Skinner. Sure the Yanks had Willie Randolph and Dave Righetti in their primes. But as a future AEPi, I wanted to look up to people that used drugs and abused women, not some clean-cut guys like the Yanks. There, I said it, I was THRILLED that the Mets won in 1986.
Does this mean the world is ending? Cause if so I'm going to get something tasty to eat for lunch instead of my usual turkey sandwhich
NO NO NO, the world is not ending. I am not a Mets fan. I was merely enamored with their colorful personalities back in the 80's. You can go ahead and order your usual turkey sandwich.
