Farewells

1. Our fond farewell goes to QB Doug Flutie, who likely played in his last NFL game today. If you didn't see the play, it was so much fun and so funny, it's hard to think of a better send-off: Belichick sent Flutie out on a two-point conversion, but before the snap, Flutie backpedaled ten yards, took the snap and drop-kicked it through the uprights for 1 point. Then, he and the rest of the team went nuts, at a level not seen from Flutie since his Hail Mary pass in 1984 that led Boston College over Miami. One of the good guys of the NFL (and CFL) over the last two decades, a winner of three CFL Grey Cups, a true warrior and competitor. Doug Flutie, you will be missed.

2. Our not-so-fond farewell goes to Mike Tice, former head coach of the Minnesota Vikings. Smart move by team owner Zygi Wilf to remove the guy who (a) never could get a talented team to play to their level, and (b) had zero control over the Sex Boat brigade this season. The team needs a thorough house-cleaning, and Tice had to be the first to go. As much as I don't like seeing those sorry bastards make a smart move - this was a smart move. Good riddance, Mr. Tice.
