Taking the Hitman’s cue, it was 15 years ago today that Buffalo Bills kicker Scott Norwood missed a potential game-winning field goal with four seconds left, giving the Giants a 20-19 victory in Super Bowl XXV. That was one of the best Super Bowls ever because it came at a time when the “big game” was usually a lopsided disaster. Plus, the Whitney anthem, the F-16 flyover, the whole patriotic angle during the Gulf War, damn if that wasn’t a great night of football.
