The West is the Best?

To quote Jim Morrison, a great poet and Western dopehead/hero, the West is definately the Best.

I have a question for all you Back Seat Drivers. Is the greatness in baseball and other sports gravitating towards the west? I don't want to start a Biggie Smalls/Tupac war since I am the only person that lives west of the Mississippi but I think that the sports team in the west are giving their east coast rivals a run for their money. Now not only do those of us in the west have better looking women (preferably blondes), no need for Gold Bond in the summer time, a lack of obesity, beautiful vistas (with the occasional forest fire) and attitudes that make you feel like you are at Cheers all the time, but now the sports here have rocketed forward.

The main point that I want to make is in National League baseball. The West will definately be home to the Cy Young winner, possibly the Rookie of the Year, the Manager of the Year, and the MVP. All but one team came in above .500 with the top two teams in the NL coming from the West and it appears that those two teams will be battling it out in the NLCS. Sorry Cubs and Phillies fans, I think that your teams aren't going to come back.

Here is a breakdown of of how the NL West fared this past year:

VS NL East 96-70
vs NL Central 106-94
vs. AL East 26-28 (the main league that all 5 teams played)

These numbers are pretty much in favor of the NL West. The AL East (with the powerhouses of the Yankees and Red Sox) barely beat out the NL West. The Rockies went 5-1 against those two teams.

Do you think that there is going to be an surge in the next few years towards the NL West or is this year just an anomoly? I am hoping that this is just signs of things to come in the next few years but am hesitate about my optimism.
