The Toledo dispute is a classic example of the Wolverine cunning and guile. Please examine the compromise line proposed by Michigan during the dispute. Isn't this classic?? The main dispute was not over the glory of Toledo but the location of a proposed canal from Lake Erie into the Mississippi and Ohio River watersheds. Instead, Michigan received the UP in exchange for Toledo.
