On Planet Owens, the Eagles would be classy and respectable because they'd celebrate his 100th career touchdown.
On Planet Owens, the Eagles would be undefeated if they had Brett Favre starting at QB instead of Donovan McNabb.
Perhaps there's something to the first thing...perhaps the Eagles don't feel the need to celebrate the accomplishment of a player who has been a horrible distraction to the team since April and won't even be wearing their uniform by the time next spring's mini-camps open. Then again, I don't know how many teams would put on fireworks or make a big deal out of such an accomplishment. Beyond posting it on the scoreboard, would anyone in the NFL actually stop play to celebrate this? Somehow I doubt it.
The second thing...well, that's just plain silly. Donovan McNabb, even at 100%, isn't the QB Brett Favre was in his prime. But Brett Favre is so past his prime it's not even funny. What on earth would make T.O. think that Brett Favre could change the Eagles' fortunes? When did Favre start playing defense? Aren't the Eagles being outscored 62-14 in 1st quarters this year? How would having Favre help that situation?
...and while we're on the Favre subject...Brett said that if the Packers fire head coach Mike Sherman, he'd give strong consideration to retirement. The Packers should fire Mike Sherman. At this point, the Packers are so far from being a good team that keeping Favre around isn't helping matters. They need to see if Aaron Rodgers is going to be their QB of the future. They need to start moving with the rebuilding process. Favre isn't doing anyone a bit of good by sticking around.
